Warren Neidich, In The Mind’s Eye

Neidich explores telepathy in his work In the Minds Eye in which the psychoanalytic and/or mentalist dyad overlaps with the artist/curator dyad and artist/viewer dyad, demonstrating a transferential situation as it can be superimposed loosely onto activities outside of psychoanalysis. It externalizes an internal process of identifying and augmenting objects for exhibition without leaving a physical trace. Real objects are brought to a one-on-one theatrical performance event to create works of art in The Mind Eye as an immaterial exhibition space. The work asks “Who owns the work? What are its display conditions? Is that person the only one who has the ability and right to display that work forever in their mind?”[1]
